Fehmida Usmani

Fehmida Usmani is the Ph.D scholar in Information Technology at National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan. She is currently on the reseach mobility program and working with the OptCom reserach group in Politecnico di Torino.

She has done the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan in the academic year 2012. She received the Masters degree in Information Technology from the National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan with a thesis titled “Efficient Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation in Long Reach Passive Optical Networks” in the academic year 2015. She also worked as a lecturer in the Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & IT, Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan from July 2015 to Sep 2015.
Currently, She is on Higher Education Commission of Pakistan Faculty Development Program scholarship to pursue her Ph.D.
Her current research work focuses on the Applications of Machine Learning techniques in Next Generation Optical Networks.
She has been selected as one of the recipients of the Corning Women in Optical Communications scholarship award from the Optica for the year 2022.
